A hoop for everyone

Whether you’re a professional hooper, or a total beginner, there is a hoop for that! Generally, bigger hoops are the easiest and smaller hoops require more precision. If you are a beginner, no worries! I can help you figure out the perfect hoop for your specific hoop goals. Some things to take into consideration are your height, your hooping experience, and what kinds of movements you’ll be doing with your hoop. But don’t worry too much about size, since there is no such thing as the “perfect” size for someone. The best thing to do is go a little bigger starting out, and really play with it a lot to find out what your own unique style turns out to be!

Custom Taped Hoops

Taped hoops are BIG hoops made with thicker tubing and have a little more weight to them. A large taped hoop is the perfect hoop for a beginner or someone looking for a fun workout. These hoops are used mostly for classic, on-body hooping, like hooping at the hips, waist, legs, or shoulders. They’re great for both kids and adults. Strengthen your core, improve your balance, and get groovy!

Polypro Hoops

Polypro hoops are bouncy and light. Find new and creative ways to express yourself through movement dancing with one of these hoops. The more modern style of hooping you may have seen sweeping the gram is usually done with these kinds of hoops. The smaller size allows for fun hand tricks and off body manipulations.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Are they weighted?
A: If you’re thinking of those “exercise hoops” found in the sporting goods aisle, then no, these hoops are not those. The taped hoops weigh about one pound at the heaviest. While you could still get a great work out in if you aimed for that in your hoop session, you could also play with these hoops for a long time without getting tired. While they do happen to be good exercise, my main goal is that they look pretty and are easy to use.

Q: What is a good size hoop for me if I’m a beginner?
A: Generally, taller folks and beginner hoopers will be more likely to succeed with bigger hoops. Bigger hoops are easier because they move more slowly. If you’re a beginner I recommend anywhere from 36” to 44” depending on your height for big taped hoops.

Q: What kind of hoop is best for cardio?
A: While either kind of hoop can be used for cardio, the taped hoops are easier to use it for that purpose because they are heavier. Since they are heavier and bigger than the polypros, you can keep them up for longer. The polypro hoops are more ideal for trick moves because they are lighter and easier to manipulate with your hands. You can definitely get your heart rate up with a polypro, but since you mostly use your hands and not your whole body, you'd have to be moving a lot.
